Do colleges see how many times you take the ACT?

Hey guys! Just wondering, when I send my ACT scores to colleges, will they be able to see every time I took the test? I'd hate for it to look bad if I took it several times.

Hey! Great question. Most colleges these days practice "superscoring," which means they consider your highest section scores across all your testing attempts to create a combined "highest possible" score. This generally implies that they will see all the times you took the ACT. However, you shouldn't worry too much about taking it multiple times! Admissions committees understand that some students may need a few tries to achieve their best score.

Now, there are some schools that request all your test scores, but even in these cases, they will typically still focus on your highest score as they evaluate your application. Colleges are interested in the best representation of your academic capabilities, and their admissions decisions are usually not negatively affected by multiple test attempts.

To be absolutely sure about the policy of the colleges you're considering, it's always a good idea to check their websites or get in touch with their admissions offices to clarify their approach to ACT score reporting.

So, don't stress about the number of times you take the ACT. Focus on preparing well and aim for the highest score you can achieve. Good luck!
